After I published my post Interactive Notebooks for Preschoolers, I’ve had a few people message me to ask if I do any notebooking with my daughter, who is 5 years old and in Kindergarten. Well, it just so happens that I do!

We have a math curriculum that we use everyday (read more about our math curriculum here), but we take one day a week to do our interactive math notebook. Ella really seems to enjoy it. She loves that it’s fun and that it doesn’t feel like she’s doing schoolwork. It’s pretty quick too so it doesn’t take up much of our homeschool day.
It’s such a simple concept!
And it takes minimal prep from me, which is great for busy moms.
Notice the presence of a man bun on one of the brothers? Lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I came up with 36 different math prompts that I printed off. I cut them out and then glued each one onto a separate page in a spiral bound notebook. Every week, we read the question and then she draws and colours the scenario and then answers the question. It’s as simple as that! It’s easy, fun and she’s improving her problem solving skills as well as her math skills. The questions start off easy, but get a bit harder as time goes on. There are questions based on addition, subtraction, counting and shapes.
Speaking of math prompts…..
I have a free printable for you!
I’d love for you guys to have the math prompts that I made. There are 36 prompts, one for every week of your school year.
