About Me

Hi everyone! Welcome to Two Little Homeschoolers blog. I’m so happy you stopped by.

Who am I?

Well, my name is Jessie and I’m the voice behind Two Little Homeschoolers.

I’m a wife to an amazing guy, who just so happens to be my high school sweetheart, a mom to two amazing little kids, a blogger, a book lover, a Netflix binge watcher, a yoga pant wearer and consumer of way too much caffeine.

I started Two Little Homeschoolers to document my life as a homeschooling mom. With only 2 years under my belt, l’m still fairly new at it but I’m a researcher by nature and I’ve done my fair share on this subject. I’ve learned so much about the wonderful world of homeschooling in the last 5 years. Now as most Homeschoolers know, it isn’t always cupcakes and rainbows. Like all kids, mine are sometimes tired and cranky, they like to fight with each other, they don’t want to do schoolwork and they don’t always listen but we love our homeschooling life and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Meet my husband

Now as I mentioned above, I married my high school sweetheart Chris. I know, I know …. we’re just so cute. When I was 15 years old, I went to an all ages night at a local club [insert exaggerated eye roll and muffled laugh]. During one point of the night, as I was dancing to some 90’s club beat, the crowds parted and we lock eyes through the haze and neon strobe lights. It was love at first sight and we lived happily ever after. Just kidding! While most of it is true (hey, it was the late 90’s. Don’t judge!), a mutual friend introduced us at the club. We started dating within a few weeks and we’ve been together ever since.

We got married at 22 years old in the Dominican Republic in front of our closest friends and family. It was a blast! I definitely recommend a destination wedding to everyone. There was much less stress, it was incredibly beautiful and it was a fraction of the price. A win, win all around.

Meet my homeschooling family

A couple of years later, we decided that we’d start trying for a baby. We tried and tried and then we tried some more. For some reason, I just wasn’t getting pregnant. About a year after we started trying, we consulted with a fertility doctor. To make a very long story short, after 5 years, 11 rounds of IUI’s, 2 full rounds and IVF, 4 egg transfers and a lot of money, I finally became pregnant with my beautiful daughter Ella. She was born just a few minutes before midnight on a hot summer night in August of 2012. I was finally a mother. It was the happiest day of my life.

About 10 months later, surprise, surprise, I found out I was pregnant with my son Liam (naturally too!!). After only 4 hours of labour (I only actually felt contractions for about an hour and half), he was born on a cold night in March of 2014.

Nowadays, we spend our time reading, homeschooling, going for walks, riding bikes, playing at the park, playing games, singing, dancing, baking and cooking, drawing, playing the piano and doing arts and crafts. We have a very busy, full life and we have lot of fun together.

Ella is now almost 5 years old and we’ll be starting kindergarten in a few short weeks. She’s loud, bubbly and talkative. She a little bit stubborn (cough, cough) and she likes to be in charge of every situation. She’ll definitely be some sort of leader in the future. She’s also the sweetest big sister ever. We started preschool when she was 3 years old and we just finished Junior Kindergarten this past week. She absolutely loves school and she’s so excited to start kindergarten.

Liam is 3 years old now and we’ll be starting preschool in a few weeks. It’ll be a bit more of a challenge this time around as he has Childhood Speech Apraxia (which I’ll get into more on a later post) but I’m up for the challenge and he’s so excited to start ‘big boy school’. He a little more quiet than his sister, which is probably due to his Apraxia. He’s funny, very mischievous and literally the most loving child I’ve ever met. He’s always down to cuddle, he loves hugging kids at the park and he’s constantly covering my face and arms in kisses.
